From childhood passion to professional self-determination

Abstract. The article considers the directions of professional self-determination of adolescents. The importance of the system of additional education for children in professional self-determination is emphasized. Some contradictions are named that cause the existence of problems in professional self-determination during the period of children’s education in an institution of additional education. The role of the creative studio of technical modeling «TechUspekh» of the Children and Youth Center «On Komsomolskaya Street» in the professional development of students is designated. It is noted that the development of skills in protecting technical projects and presenting their own inventions, as well as targeted and systematic participation of children and adolescents in conferences, exhibitions, competitions, Olympiads and contests in specialized universities are a guideline for subsequent training and choice of profession. Students follow the path from childhood passion to professional self-determination. Practice shows that psychological readiness for professional choice is formed through self-knowledge. Hobbies in childhood are often associated with how a person subsequently plans his or her professional future. In order to consciously determine a professional path, it is necessary to understand one’s own desires and have the opportunity to develop natural abilities. Practical experience demonstrates many cases when it is the teacher of the additional education system who becomes the figure that predetermines the professional path of the student.
