Implementation of the STEAM approach in the educational process of Geometry lessons

Abstract. The modern world is dynamically developing, and along with it people and their qualities are changing. Nowadays there is a need to form a personality who has developed creative thinking, the ability to solve problems outside the box, as well as the ability to critical thinking. This article discusses the possibility to implement STEAM methods into the educational process in Geometry classes in 7th grade. This approach develops the above-mentioned human qualities that are necessary in the modern era. The author highlights the main aspects of the problem: increasing the level of students’ learning motivation; developing creative thinking; and forming geometric knowledge. In the article, the author draws attention to the possibilities of using the STEAM approach to update educational material on Geometry. The description of the developed task and the results of its testing on 7th grade lessons are demonstrated, which indicate the positive impact of the STEAM approach on children’s learning motivation, student academic progress and the development of creative abilities. The results of the study emphasize the need to integrate natural sciences, technology, engineering, art and mathematics in the educational process. The article ends with conclusions and recommendations, and it notes the importance of studying the STEAM approach in education, as the approach has appeared relatively recently, and there are few research articles on this topic.
