Implementation of the regional component of literary education content at the lessons of Native (Russian) Literature

Abstract. This lesson scenario is based on the story “Vertolyotino tree” by O. N. Kuznetsova. The integrated text analysis involving the critical thinking technology is proposed. The lesson is conducted in the context of studying “Native (Russian) Literature” in 9th grade (the story is written by a Vologda author). The aim of the lesson is to define problems of the original text analyzing the characters’ personalities and their relationships as well as to interpret the story’s title which tells about the generation gap, the importance of good memories of a person, love and respect. Due to group work students become aware of the author’s position and form their own opinion based on their life and reading experience. They realize that the author sympathizes Stepanida, the main character, admires her love of life and blames her relatives for unkind words probably said in the heats, for indifference to old people. Students learn how to understand, analyze and compare characters’ behavior while doing semantic reading at the lesson. Such methods of critical thinking technology as brainstorming, plot table and cluster help them.

Keywords: semantic reading, author’s position, character’s personality, plot table, cluster, brainstorming.
