About the experience of studying the native (Russian) language and native literature on local history material

Abstract. In the modern school the problem of the formation of students’ reading literacy is relevant.  It is one of the aims of the course of Russian literature and one of the criteria of the quality of students’ training. An obvious, at first sight, task faces difficulties in its solution. It turns out that the students ‘work with texts is insufficient. The article is devoted to the development of the methodology for the formation of the reading literacy of schoolchildren in the lessons of their native (Russian) language and native literature with the involvement of local history materials. The problem is solved with the help of the modern axiological orientation of teaching the Russian language. The attention is drawn to the process of the formation of reading literacy, skills of the texts mining processes. The methods of the research include an observation, analysis and summarizing the experience of studying the folklore and dialect materials at school, as well as the local history. The methods necessary for the formation of reader’s literacy are also considered: search, research, gaming. The methodology of working with the text is described: search, selection, observation. The basic methodological principles of constructing such tasks that form the students’ reading literacy and the value of their native language are derived: age difference, multilevel, self-determination. The created tasks will become a part of the developed training manual “Novgorod Alphabet”, designed to organize the activities of teachers and students in the study of their native (Russian) language on the local history materials, and developing the skills of whole texts mining processes.
