Mathematical Olympiad movement as a method of self-realization of cadets of a military institute

Abstract. The mathematical Olympiad movement is discussed in the aspect of the problem of the self-realization of a cadet of a military institute. The essence and the functions of the subject Olympiad are identified; the forms of the holding High School mathematical Olympiads and competitions in Kaliningrad region are listed. The notion “Mathematical Olympiad movement“ is introduced as an integral system where Olympiads and competitions are basic, but not unique components. The system role of the scientific and methodological seminar “Solving non-standard tasks in Mathematics and Science“ in the Olympiad movement is shown. Recommendations of using special materials for the preparation to the Olympiad are given.
