Age-related characteristics in the perception of literary texts by preschool and primary school children

Abstract. The article considers age-related characteristics in the perception of literary texts by preschool and primary school children, which define the effectiveness of learning activities to encourage their reading. The author traces the influence of such characteristics on the choice of genres and subject matter of literary and folklore works that are offered to children of this particular age group, as well as seeks to define age capacities related to the understanding of means of artistic expression.
