Over the past 5–6 years, the Russian education system has been undergoing global changes associated with a complex set of external and internal challenges. Continuous professional education, as a part of the overall system, is responding to these challenges by adapting to emerging conditions, specifically by revising approaches for organizing teacher training through the implementation of additional professional development programs. While full-time education was the primary mode of studying until 2020, from 2020 to 2023, extramural studies, using distance learning technologies and e-learning, were being prioritized. A gradual transition to a part-time mode of studying has been started since 2024. The central aim of it is to allocate a proportion of academic hours in professional development programs for in-person classes. The primary focus of these classes is the implementation of a practice-oriented approach to teachers training. This is especially relevant for physical education and sports teachers, who have large working spaces such as gyms and less access to information and communication technologies. This article describes the organization of practical classes for physical education teachers and instructors teaching in general education institutions and preschool educational ones, respectively. The description of the practical organization of professional development is based on the author’s experience.
