Using digital technologies in patriotic education by a specialist working with youth

Abstract. The article describes the activities of a youth coordinator working with young people to use the potential of digital resources in patriotic education. Currently, the transition to an information society has shifted youth communications to the Internet, social networks have become the main place of socialization, which encourages youth specialists to actively seek new forms of work of patriotic education. It has determined the aim of the study: to identify the most effective educational practices on the Internet. The paper presents the results of a study among students, confirming the need to use digital technologies in the field of patriotic education; the experience of holding online events is analyzed. The authors concluded that digital technologies can increase the effectiveness of the educational process if used correctly. The Internet platform is a «comfortable» environment for young people, where they meet, communicate, and receive a lot of different information. The task of youth work organizers is to transform the online space and make it not only interesting, but also educational, guiding teenagers, offering topics in the game space related to history, national traditions, and culture, thereby solving the problems of patriotic education.
