Results of the testing of the digital literacy monitoring model for schoolchildren

Abstract. This study explores the level of digital literacy among schoolchildren in today’s rapidly digitizing cutting-edge world. The author identifies the key areas of the problem: formation of basic digital skills, ensuring cyber security, fostering critical thinking in digital environments, and adapting teaching methods to the conditions of digital transformations. Special focus is given to the practical experience in the Kaliningrad region, where a comprehensive system for monitoring schoolchildren’s digital literacy has been created and presented. It includes a dedicated section in an electronic journal and practice-oriented tests aimed at actual schoolchildren’s skills assessment. A testing of the monitoring model was conducted in 2024, revealing students’ basic level of digital competencies, collecting and analyzing the feedback on perceptions of the provided material, and making recommendations for improving both monitoring procedures and educational curricula. The results of the research underline the need to integrate digital literacy to common educational process for more efficient students training using modern technology in both academic and everyday contexts. The paper concludes with findings and practical recommendations for enhancing monitoring system and educational curricula aimed at increasing schoolchildren’s level of digital literacy.
