Experience in implementing the «SoundCraft» project with the use of STEAM practices in additional education of primary school children
Abstract. This article discusses the authors’ experience in implementing the educational project «SoundCraft» in working with primary school students through the use of STEAM practices. The aim of this study is to verify the effectiveness of using project activities with STEAM practices in additional education for primary school students. The authors have suggested that project activities in additional education will be more effective if, firstly, elements of STEAM practices are included in the work with primary school students. Secondly, the content of students’ activities at the lesson will correspond to their age and individual characteristics. Thirdly, teachers will use STEAM practices in cooperation with the children’s parents. The article describes the methodological aspects and practical results of the project, which involves the integration of five areas: science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics in the educational process. Project activities based on STEAM practices can serve as a basis not only for training future engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs, but also specialists in various professional fields who are competitive at the international level. The results obtained in the study allow us to state that the use of STEAM practices in additional education of primary school students shows positive results.
