Career-guidance work with young people

Abstract. The article considers the career-guidance work as a process consisting of a set of measures aimed at helping students in professional self-determination. Based on psychological and pedagogical literature, as well as practical experience in organizing and conducting work on vocational guidance for young people, the author suggests dividing this process into three main blocks (“Discover yourself”, “World of professions”, “Labor market”) and conducting a cycle of vocational guidance classes in educational organizations in accordance with these blocks. The author refers to the concept of “professionogram” and suggests using professionograms in the process of career-guidance work with students. The article provides examples of introspective exercises that contribute to the conscious choice of profession by young people. The goals, objectives and planned results are described. The forms of work for each block of the cycle of classes are presented. The material of the article is based on the analysis of normative legal documents regulating the organization and conduction of career-guidance work in educational organizations, as well as on the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature and can be used by teachers in organizing and conducting career-guidance work with students.
