Development of a visual novella as a means of primary schoolchildren’s programming teaching

Abstract. The article examines the innovative use of visual novellas as an educational tool for teaching primary schoolchildren, the key principles based on child psychology that contribute to effective studying of this age group are analyzed. The article focuses on the description of the advantages of using visual novellas in the educational process. Increasing of students’ motivation, improved understanding of complex concepts through visual examples, as well as the development of logical thinking and creativity are noted among the key advantages. The article describes in detail the process of developing an educational visual novella, including the stages of planning, writing a scenario, creating graphic and sound elements, as well as programming interactive components. Special attention is paid to the methods of integrating educational content into the plot of the novella, which allows students to master the basics of programming in a game format. As a result, it can be concluded that visual novellas can become a powerful tool in the toolkit of teachers seeking to make programming teaching more accessible and interesting for primary students. Thus, the proposed methodology contributes not only to the acquisition of new knowledge, but also to the development of children’s sustained interest in the field of information technology.
