Teacher as a subject of cultural transmission: psychological aspect (based on the materials of competitive task in the framework of the regional stage of the competition “Teacher of the Year — 2022”)
Abstract. The article deals with the problem of transmission of culture by a teacher. The contradictions constituting the problem of mismatch between the required cultural level of the teacher and the real one, between the value of culture declared by teachers and the real reliance on its content manifested in activities are formulated and explicated. The transmission of culture is considered in the article as a key component of pedagogical activity in its content aspect. The connection between rooting into the culture of the teacher, on the one hand, and pedagogical assistance to rooting into the culture of students, on the other hand, is proved. Rootedness into the culture, in turn, is considered in the paradigm of the relations emphasizing cognitive, affective and conative components. Based on the analysis of the problem carried out in the logic of the system-activity approach, assumptions (working hypotheses) are formulated regarding the real activity of teachers in the aspect of cultural transmission. The data of the pilot study obtained during one of the competitive tasks of teachers in the framework of the regional stage of the Teacher of the Year competition are presented. The results of the study are discussed in relation to the assumptions made on the base on the theoretical analysis of the problem. System deficits of teachers’ professional activity in the aspect of rootedness into culture and its transmission are identified and described. The proposed options for interpreting the results allow us to outline strategies for filling system deficits in.
